| The Space Shuttle Book Mark is 2"x7". The Space Shuttle Endeavour is named after the first ship commanded by Captain James Cook, an 18th Century British explorer. The space shuttle is the World's first reusable spacecraft. It launches like a rocket, maneauvers in the Earth's orbit like a spacecraft and lands like an airplane. It is designed to fly at least 100 missions. The shuttle is launched in a vertical postition, with thrust provided by two solid rocket boosters and three main engines. To achieve orbit, the shuttle must accelerate from zero to almost 18,000 miles per hour. The main engine of the shuttle burns liquid hydrogen and their exhaust is primarily water vapor. |
